The Alexander Rave Foundation, supported by ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), is offering a fully funded scholarship in Germany for international cultural practitioners from DAC-listed countries. This opportunity focuses on transcultural dialogue, sustainable networks, and the transformation of museums and exhibition centres. Applications are now open for stays beginning after February 2027.

About the Alexander Rave Foundation Scholarship

  • Host Country: Germany
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months in Germany; optional reciprocal stay of 2 to 12 weeks in a DAC-listed country
  • Dates: Scholarships start from 1 February 2027 and must end by 31 December 2027

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Applicants must be from countries on the DAC list
  • Background: Open to curators, restorers, mediators, and culture managers working with cultural heritage, collections, or archives in institutional contexts
  • Requirements:
    • Completed higher education or vocational training
    • Very good knowledge of English (German or the host country language is an advantage but not mandatory)
    • Must propose a project with a non-commercial, physical host institution in Germany
    • Host institution must have a collection or archive and nominate a specialized contact person
    • Applicants cannot hold another scholarship or residence during the funding period
    • Regular attendance at the host institution is required
    • Final report submission at the end of the stay
  • Encouraged applicants: Black people, people of colour, women, LGBTQIA+ persons, people with disabilities, and members of historically marginalized groups, especially from colonized contexts
