Since its inception in 1975, the program has hosted over 450 fellows, including government officials, journalists, librarians, NGO workers, IT specialists, and public intellectuals. Fellows are encouraged to engage in collaborative research, exchange ideas, and contribute to CSEAS’s journals and book series. During their stay, fellows are expected to reside in Kyoto, participate in academic events, and deliver a public lecture.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Open to international scholars and professionals
- Age: Applicants must be under 65 years old at the time of appointment; those over 65 may be considered in exceptional cases
- Background: Accomplished scholars, experienced librarians, government officials, journalists, NGO workers, IT specialists, and public intellectuals are eligible
- Requirements:
