Program Details

The fellowship is designed for international scholars interested in pursuing research in the fields of humanities and social sciences, specifically focusing on Taiwan Studies or Southeast Asian Studies. Up to three primary awardees and two alternates may be selected, depending on available funding and evaluation results. The fellowship cannot be deferred or extended beyond the specified period.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Open to international applicants not currently engaged in research, teaching, or studies in Taiwan
  • Background: Professors, associate professors, assistant professors, lecturers, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, Ph.D. students, or library personnel and researchers of equivalent rank at foreign academic institutions
  • Applicants recommended by institutions with a signed academic cooperation MOU with the Library, whose research aligns with Taiwan Studies or Southeast Asian Studies, are also eligible
  • Requirements:

    • Curriculum Vitae (with publication list)
    • Research proposal (up to three pages, in Chinese or English)
    • Recommendation letter (sent directly by referee by April 20, 2026)
    • Letter of approval from the highest administrative authority at the applicant’s home institution
