Program Details
The COP31 CCMP Reporting Fellowship is designed to support journalists and creator journalists in covering the UN climate negotiations. Fellows will benefit from a robust program that includes editorial mentorship, daily briefings, access to key events, and opportunities to network with peers and experts. The fellowship encourages reporting in any medium—print, online, radio, or broadcast—and supports both staff and freelance journalists. Fellows are expected to produce multiple stories for their media outlets, with at least one story translated into English for wider dissemination.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Applicants must be from or represent an established media house in a low- or middle-income country (see the full list on the official website).
- Age: No specific age requirement.
- Background: Professional journalists or creator journalists with experience in climate change reporting. Freelancers are welcome with a letter of support from a media outlet.
- Requirements:
- Must not have previously attended a UNFCCC climate COP in person
- Available to travel to Antalya for the full conference duration
- Good command of English (applications accepted only in English)
- Demonstrated experience in climate change reporting
- Commitment to participate in all fellowship activities
- Up-to-date resume/CV
- 2-minute video explaining intended reporting at COP31
- Letter of support from an editor or media outlet
- At least three recent, relevant work samples on climate change topics (published between May 15, 2025, and June 15, 2026, with English synopsis if not in English)
- Transparency regarding the use of generative AI tools in the application
